Work has commenced on the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline within Afghanistan, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban, as reported by ArianaNews.
Mujahid stated that technical equipment necessary for the project has been delivered to the border zone between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, and practical construction activities are already underway.
“A large number of specialists are working on various sections of this project, and its first phase will be completed within the next two years,” Mujahid said.
He also announced that practical steps to implement CASA-1000—a regional electricity transmission line connecting Central Asia to South Asia—would soon begin.
“Afghanistan will steadily strengthen, and citizens will be provided with quality job opportunities,” Mujahid emphasized.
Experts believe that TAPI will play a significant role in boosting the region's economy. Upon completion, the project is expected to create 12,000 jobs and increase Afghanistan’s annual revenue by $1 billion.
