President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the industrial zone of Tashkent’s Chilanzar District, where he reviewed the operations of several enterprises, examined upcoming investment projects, and toured an exhibition of goods produced by local manufacturers within the special economic area. The visit was reported by the presidential press service.
The small industrial zone, located in the Beshkurgon and Tirsakobod neighborhoods, spans 320 hectares. It hosts energy-efficient and environmentally safe production facilities. A total of 531 enterprises operate in the area, employing around 20,000 people. The annual production capacity amounts to 6.8 trillion soums (about $537 million). Fifty of these companies export goods abroad, with export volumes nearing $180 million.
Mirziyoyev received a detailed presentation on the operations of Tarleplast, a pipe manufacturing company. The project is valued at $25 million. The factory is equipped with modern imported machinery capable of producing 90,000 tons of steel pipes and metal profiles per year, worth 900 billion soums (around $71 million). The enterprise has created about 120 permanent jobs.
The pipes produced at the plant are built to withstand high pressure and external impacts. Their quality is evidenced by successful exports to Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Last year, the company exported $4 million worth of goods.
During his visit, the president also toured Eman Materials, a furniture factory established through a $10 million private investment. The facility produces 10,000 tons of furniture fittings and components annually and is preparing to begin exporting.
The company employs 200 people and includes a training center for specialist development. Experts from Italy and Turkey are involved in the production and training processes.
Mirziyoyev was also presented with long-term development projects for the industrial zone. These include the construction of a multi-story production facility and the establishment of a “monocenter.” Altogether, the plan envisions 100 new initiatives expected to create 3,000 jobs. The projects span sectors such as pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, printing, automotive manufacturing, textiles, and food production.
City officials added that the poverty rate in Chilanzar District fell from 7 percent to 2.2 percent in the first half of this year. Under a targeted development plan, the aim is to completely eliminate poverty and unemployment in the district by the end of 2025.
The president also visited the Inson Social Services Center in Tashkent’s Shaykhantahur District, which offers more than 100 services for 12 categories of people in need. Within the same facility, a public-private partnership led to the creation of Imkoniyatlar Olami, an institution that provides support for children under age three. Specialists there assist with adaptation and rehabilitation for children with disabilities and offer supervision and caregiving services. Currently, 80 children receive support through the center.
Additionally, the president visited the Yangi Kamolon neighborhood, where he met with local residents and reviewed a progress report from the district’s reform coordination office.
