Turkmenistan’s First “Smart City” Arkadag Expands with 65 Hectares from Ashgabat

Turkmenistan’s parliament, the Mejlis, has officially transferred 65 hectares of land from Ashgabat to the new city of Arkadag, according to the state-run outlet Golden Age.

The land transfer was made at the request of the Arkadag administration to support the city’s further development and improve its urban management and infrastructure.

🔹 Construction of Arkadag began in April 2019.
🔹 The city was inaugurated in June 2023, receiving 21 international certificates, including recognition as the “First Smart City of the Turkic World.”
🔹 Authorities highlight Arkadag as a high-tech urban hub with:

Smart residential buildings controlled via smartphone apps

Government and administrative offices

A central square with a flagpole

A theater, library, hospital, museums, and educational institutions
