On May 15, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov made a series of key government appointments.

Marat Imankulov, who previously served as Secretary of the Security Council, has been appointed State Secretary. His predecessor in the post, Suyunbek Kasmambetov, was relieved of his duties earlier the same day due to a job change. On social media, Kasmambetov explained that he had resigned due to age—he turned 65 on April 8.

The new Secretary of the Security Council is Baktybek Bekbolotov, formerly the Minister of Defense.

Ruslan Mukambetov has been appointed Acting Minister of Defense. According to Kaktus.Media, he served as Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan until April 13, when he was dismissed without an official explanation.

On the same day, President Japarov also signed decrees appointing Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva as Minister of Education and Baktiyar Orozov as Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation. A few days earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science and the State Agency for Intellectual Property and Innovation were reorganized into two new entities: the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation.
