On the eve of the opening of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and Uzbekistan’s Mentor’s Day celebrations, the Center welcomed international experts, its press service reported.

Among the guests were Dr. Ibrahim Al Hajri, president of Khalifa University of Science & Technology (UAE); Steven Richard, regional coordinator at Cambridge University Press & Assessment for Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas; and Wolfgang A. Herrmann, president of Yangi Oʻzbekistan University. The experts were introduced to the Center’s activities, completed research projects, and upcoming initiatives.

Dr. Ibrahim Al Hajri emphasized the importance of the Center for Islamic Civilization:

“This is not just a building but a place that embodies the spirit of the great scholars born on this land. Their discoveries and works, from Al-Khwarizmi to Ibn Sina, continue to serve humanity today. It is crucial that the Center preserves this heritage and passes it on to future generations,” Al Hajri said.

The Center for Islamic Civilization was built next to the Khast-Imam complex. Designed in the style of medieval architecture, the building features four portals, each 34 meters high, and a central dome rising 65 meters. It houses a Quran hall, a 460-seat conference hall, and a museum whose exhibitions cover the history of Uzbekistan from pre-Islamic times to the present. The Center aims to serve as a hub for studying and reinterpreting the heritage of the past in cooperation with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and research institutions worldwide.
