Tajikistan’s Communications Service under the government has signed a licensing agreement with Starlink Tajikistan, a subsidiary of billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The deal, concluded during the Dushanbe Invest-2025 forum, will provide the Central Asian republic with access to the global Starlink satellite internet network, Asia-Plus reports.

According to the outlet, on the opening day of the investment forum, held on October 14, the Communications Service signed eight cooperation agreements with leading international and regional companies. The projects cover areas such as the development of the digital economy, internet infrastructure, and 5G technology. However, officials described the agreement with Musk’s company as the forum’s “key contract.”

Overall, Tajikistan’s State Committee on Investments and State Property Management reported that 26 agreements worth more than $3 billion were signed at the start of Dushanbe Invest-2025. The largest share of investment—$2.5 billion—is directed toward the energy sector.

In addition, the industrial sector saw nine contracts totaling $386 million, while the communications and information sphere accounted for eight agreements worth $334 million. Another four contracts worth around $9 million will be implemented through public-private partnerships.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan also signed three protocols and two memorandums with international companies for projects including the construction of solar and wind power plants and the launch of educational programs to train specialists in renewable energy.

The Investment Committee noted that the agreements signed during the event aim to foster the development of Tajikistan’s key economic sectors, as well as to introduce innovations and artificial intelligence technologies.

The Dushanbe Invest-2025 International Investment Forum serves as a platform for promoting green investment, sustainable development, and digital transformation in Central Asia. The event, held from October 14 to 16, brought together over a thousand participants, including government representatives, corporate executives, financial institutions, and international organizations from across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Starlink is a global satellite communications network that provides high-speed broadband internet access from virtually anywhere on Earth. It is owned by entrepreneur Elon Musk, whose company SpaceX launches the satellites into orbit and operates the Starlink system.
