Shavkat Mirziyoyev Outlines Key Development Goals for Uzbekistan in 2025

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented key economic development goals for the country in 2025 at a meeting of the newly elected Oliy Majlis (parliament).

These include:

👉 ensuring economic growth of 6-7% with inflation at 5-6% and a budget deficit not exceeding 3%;

👉 lifting one million people out of poverty;

👉 implementing over 300 major investment projects;

👉 enhancing food security and increasing agricultural production by 1.3 times;

👉 increasing the private sector's share in the economy to 85% over the next five years. To achieve this, the authorities will conduct large-scale privatization of state assets. Plans include selling state shares in 2000 enterprises, realizing more than 5000 real estate properties, and placing shares of 16 large complexes through IPOs. Additionally, public-private partnership projects totaling $30 billion are planned.

The President emphasized the need for close cooperation between the government and parliament to achieve the set goals. Special attention will be paid to developing international cooperation, strengthening the country's defense capabilities, and educating the youth.

Mirziyoyev also summarized the country's economic development over the past five years:

✅ the economy doubled, exceeding $100 billion;

✅ expected per capita income — $3000;

✅ exports doubled, reaching $25 billion;

✅ gold and foreign exchange reserves exceeded $40 billion;

✅ foreign investment volume increased sixfold, creating 1.5 million jobs;

✅ 10 large solar and wind power stations were commissioned;

✅ the share of alternative energy tripled in a year;

✅ preschool education coverage reached 74%, higher education — 39%;

✅ «Inson» («Human») centers, providing over 100 social services to the population, opened in all regions.

The President noted that within the framework of the «Uzbekistan-2030» strategy, it is planned to achieve a GDP of $160 billion. This year, a level of $110 billion is expected.

▶️ At the same meeting, deputies approved the prime minister — Abdullah Aripov was reappointed, — and 2025 was declared the «Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy» in Uzbekistan.
