During a visit to the Qashqadaryo Region, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev toured the “Ok Saroy” clinic in Shakhrisabz and instructed officials to replicate this model of medical facility across the country, according to the presidential press service.

The newly opened multipurpose cardiology center in Shakhrisabz was launched in partnership with a Russian investor. It includes four operating rooms, six intensive care units, and more than 100 beds. The facility is capable of performing up to four heart surgeries simultaneously and as many as 25 surgeries per day. Experienced specialists from Russia, Turkey, and Kuwait carry out complex procedures such as stenting, coronary artery bypass grafting, correction of congenital heart defects, and endoprosthetics.

The clinic also provides advanced diagnostic services and houses Uzbekistan’s only echocardiography unit using artificial intelligence technology. In addition, it operates mobile diagnostic units that travel to remote areas to offer services like ultrasound, CT scans, ECGs, and other on-site care.

The center employs 130 people on a permanent basis and offers clinical residency programs to train highly qualified medical personnel.

Qashqadaryo Region has high rates of cardiovascular disease, primarily due to poor dietary habits. As a result, the cardiology center in Shakhrisabz plays a vital role in early detection and effective treatment of such conditions.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that clinics like this not only transform treatment standards but also reshape public perceptions of healthcare quality. He stressed the importance of applying this successful model nationwide.

“It doesn’t matter how much it costs — we’ll find the resources. What matters is providing people with reliable, high-quality, and accessible care. Without alternatives and competition, there will be no drive for quality,” he said.

Mirziyoyev instructed officials to develop proposals for scaling the model nationwide, ensuring its integration with the primary healthcare system and health insurance framework.

According to the president’s press service, Uzbekistan continues to implement gradual healthcare reforms, attract investments, and actively develop the private medical sector. In Qashqadaryo Region alone, more than 700 private medical institutions currently operate, offering 72 types of healthcare services.
