Ezzozkhon Karimova has been appointed Minister of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan. The presidential decree was signed on July 31, according to the press service of the president.
She succeeds Hilola Umarova, who in mid-July was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration responsible for education reform.
Ezzozkhon Karimova was born in 1973 in the Namangan District of Namangan Region. From 1990 to 1996, she studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at Tashkent State University. After graduation, she taught history and social studies in secondary schools and later worked at universities. From 2011 to 2021, she headed the department for youth affairs, spirituality, and enlightenment at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT).
In 2003, Karimova defended her candidate's dissertation in social psychology and sociology at the Ibrahim Muminov Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
In 2021, she became head of a department at the Agency for the Development of Presidential, Creative, and Specialized Schools, later serving as an advisor to the director of the same agency on educational institutions. In 2023–2024, she was Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work at New Uzbekistan University, which is part of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education. From 2024 to 2025, she served as advisor to the director of the Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions on matters of spiritual and educational effectiveness and compliance with the state language law.
In May 2025, Ezzozkhon Karimova was appointed Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education and Rector of the Nizami National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan.
