Following auctions for 13 commercial lots in New Tashkent, investment agreements worth $554 million were signed. Under these contracts, hotels, restaurants, and other facilities will be built in the city. On August 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with the projects, according to his press service.

Officials stated that the hotels, dining establishments, and other buildings will feature original architecture. Beyond providing high-quality services, these projects aim to transform the city into a new hub for tourism.

The construction is expected to create 160,000 jobs, with hundreds of thousands of permanent positions planned in the future. New Tashkent will also host educational and medical clusters, along with technology parks for IT service companies.

Officials reminded that construction of the new city near Uzbekistan’s capital began in 2023. For this purpose, 19,700 hectares were allocated in the Yukorichirchik and Urtachirchik districts of Tashkent Region. The development concept was designed by the British firm Cross Works. The first buildings have already appeared on the site.

In its initial phase, construction has started on a 6,000-hectare area designed to accommodate 600,000 residents. Ultimately, New Tashkent is planned for a population of 2 million. Particular attention is being paid to the quality and durability of infrastructure. Underground utilities are now under construction, including collectors for heating, electricity, and water supply networks. Tunnels and underground parking lots are also being built for drivers’ convenience.

Every project emphasizes modern and environmentally friendly solutions. The city will implement “green” transport and integrate the metro with electric buses. Designers also ensured safe and comfortable conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.

In the administrative zone, more than 60 buildings will be constructed for government agencies. As noted during the presentation, more than ten ministries and departments have already begun working in temporary facilities in New Tashkent.
