A number of projects aimed at attracting tourists and investors are being implemented in Uzbekistan. In particular, a congress center and a historical and ethnographic park are planned for Khiva, while a modern exhibition complex is to be built in Fergana. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed these initiatives, along with construction projects in other cities, during a presentation held on January 14, according to the press service of the head of state.
It was emphasized that the country’s high rates of economic growth, its friendly foreign policy, and the expansion of international cooperation are turning Uzbekistan into a hub of business activity and tourism. This, in turn, requires proactive and balanced development of infrastructure. In this context, special attention is being paid to the creation of modern transport networks, service facilities, and public buildings.
In Khiva, the authorities intend to implement several projects that will make it possible to host major international forums in the future and increase tourist flows. These include the congress center and the historical park mentioned above.
In addition, plans call for the construction of buildings for the Confucius Institute and the Luban Workshop, which will provide the necessary conditions for cultural and educational events and for training young people in modern professions.
Continuing the discussion of development in the Khorezm region, a program to modernize Urgench International Airport was presented. The initiative предусматривает expansion of the airport’s infrastructure, improvement of passenger and cargo services, and strengthening of logistics capabilities. The project is expected to elevate the region’s transport potential to a new level.
At the same time, a separate railway line is planned from Urgench railway station to the renovated airport, which would significantly improve convenience for travelers. The president was also shown projects for the improvement and landscaping of the Urgench–Khiva highway, as well as the construction of an alternative roadway between the two cities.
In Fergana, plans call for the construction of an expo center that will host international exhibitions, business forums, and other large-scale events. The complex is intended primarily to enhance the investment attractiveness of the city and the region as a whole.
Officials also presented an initiative to establish a Burhoniddin Margilani Research Center in the city, which will include a modern academic school.
Other projects were also presented to the head of state. To provide additional comfort for students and faculty at Bukhara State University, a new modern campus will be built on the university’s grounds. In Tashkent, a rhythmic gymnastics complex will be constructed to ensure optimal conditions for athlete training.
After hearing the reports, President Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of strict compliance with quality requirements and modern construction standards in implementing these projects, as well as improving urban planning culture with due regard for public needs. He issued corresponding instructions to the relevant agencies.
