A project titled “Managing Tourist Flows in the Ichan-Kala State Museum-Reserve in Uzbekistan’s Khorezm Region Through the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies” has won first place at the KOPIST-2026 competition, organized by the South Korean government, the press service of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee reported.
The event also included a training seminar titled “Strategic Approaches to Regional Tourism Development,” attended by representatives of Egypt, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Peru, Ghana and other countries. After the seminar, participants took part in a project competition funded by the South Korean authorities.
“The Global Intensive Consulting Program, involving international experts from the partner side, will subsequently be implemented for this project. The program is expected to develop the project concept and prepare an application for grant funding,” the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee said in its statement.
The winning project envisages the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence tools to analyze, forecast and regulate tourist flows at one of Uzbekistan’s most popular historical and cultural sites.
According to the authors of the initiative, the introduction of such solutions will improve visitor management at the complex, raise the quality of tourism services, help preserve the monument and create more comfortable conditions for tourists.
ℹ️ The Ichan-Kala State Museum-Reserve, the inner city of Khiva, is one of Uzbekistan’s most important tourist attractions and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1990.
