A delegation from Hong Kong, led by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, John Lee, visited the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Center's press service. The delegation consisted of more than 30 people.
The guests were presented with information about the Center's scientific and educational activities, its main exhibitions, and projects dedicated to the history of Uzbekistan and the cultural heritage of the region. Delegation members familiarized themselves with materials on the ancient civilizations that once existed on the territory of modern Uzbekistan, as well as with exhibitions highlighting the contributions of the scholars and thinkers of Maverannahr to the development of science, education, and culture.
Special attention was given to digital manuscripts, interactive technologies, and multimedia solutions used in the Center's exhibitions. Delegation representatives noted that such formats make historical sources more accessible to a broad audience, including young people.
During the visit, the parties discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, studying and promoting historical and cultural heritage, and implementing joint projects. At the conclusion of the visit, John Lee left an entry in the Center's Book of Honored Guests.
«This Center is an invaluable heritage that holds significance for Uzbekistan and for the entire Islamic civilization, which has made a tremendous contribution to the development of humanity. Once again, I congratulate you on this outstanding achievement. May this heritage continue to serve as a source of inspiration, strengthen the friendship between our peoples, and contribute to the development of close ties,» wrote the Hong Kong chief executive.
The visit to the Center took place as part of John Lee's official trip to Uzbekistan. The Hong Kong chief executive arrived in Tashkent leading a large delegation that included representatives of Hong Kong business circles and companies from mainland China. During the visit, the parties also exchanged notes on a mutual 30-day visa-free regime and discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.
ℹ️ The Center of Islamic Civilization was built in the capital of Uzbekistan next to the Khast-Imam complex. The building is designed in the style of medieval architectural monuments, featuring four portals, each 34 meters high, and a central dome rising 65 meters. It houses a Quran hall, a conference hall seating 460 people, and a museum whose exhibitions will cover the entire history of Uzbekistan, from pre-Islamic times to the present day.
The Center is intended to serve as a platform for studying the heritage of ancestors and its contemporary interpretation, in cooperation with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and with scientific and educational centers around the world.
