An international symposium on Amir Temur and the Timurid Renaissance will be held in Ankara on October 6–7, the press service of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan reported.
The organizers are the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Turkey and the State Museum of the History of the Timurids.
Participants will discuss the personality of Amir Temur and the influence of the Timurid era on the development of science, culture and art. Special attention will be paid to the scientific and cultural rise of Central Asia in the 14th and 15th centuries.
In 2026, the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur's birth is being marked. Uzbekistan is holding a number of scholarly and educational events to commemorate the date.
On April 9–10, the Center for Islamic Civilization and the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan jointly held an international conference dedicated to Amir Temur. Uzbek and foreign scholars and specialists in the history of the Timurid era took part. They discussed the place of Amir Temur's state and the Timurid legacy in the history, science and culture of Central Asia and other regions.
The Center for Islamic Civilization was built in Tashkent next to the Khast-Imam complex. The building is designed in the style of medieval architectural monuments, with four portals, each 34 meters high, and a central dome 65 meters high. It houses a Quran hall, a 550-seat conference hall and a museum whose exhibits span the entire history of Uzbekistan, from pre-Islamic times to the present. The center is intended to become a platform for studying the heritage of the country's ancestors and its contemporary interpretation, in cooperation with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and scholarly and educational centers around the world.
