The Department of Police in West Kazakhstan Region is working to identify an object that crashed in the area, Kursiv.kz reports, citing the agency’s press service.

This marks the second such incident in two months involving objects that «resemble drones."

«The West Kazakhstan Region Police Department, in cooperation with relevant authorities, is conducting an investigation into an object resembling an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) found in Taskala District. The object crashed in a remote area, far from populated settlements, and was discovered intact, with no visible damage. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation,» the police stated.

Local residents discovered the object on March 18. It is three meters long. A similar UAV—nearly half the size—crashed in Bokeyorda District in February. That case led to the opening of a criminal investigation under Article 399 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code: «Illegal manufacturing, production, acquisition, sale, or use of special technical equipment for covert information gathering."

However, as reported by Uralskaya Nedelya, police have yet to provide updates on the investigation.

Kursiv.kz also notes that Russia leases the Kapustin Yar military testing ground, which is located in West Kazakhstan Region.
